Drew Nelles October 15, 2009 Editor-in-chief Carmine Starnino nominated for Governor-General’s Award

He’s far too modest to announce this himself, but Maisonneuve editor-in-chief Carmine Starnino received today a Governor-General’s Award nomination for his recent poetry collection This Way Out. As the Globe and Mail has written, the “excellence of Starnino’s enjambment, the infectious bounce and thwack of his lines, and his canny ability to find the mots justes…all indicate a craftsmanship of profound dexterity.”

We hope the judges of Canada’s most prestigious literary prize agree, though Carmine is up against some formidable talents. Congrats to all the nominees, and don’t forget to order This Way Out here.

Carmine congratulations. But don't thwack your lines in public, please.
