Ann Silversides Wins the CMA's Michelle Lang Award for Excellence in Print Reporting
Sept. 12, 2013Maisonneuve is pleased to announce that Ann Silversides has won a Canadian Medical Association 2013 Media Award for Health Reporting for First Do No Harm, the cover story of our Spring 2013 issue.
Silversides received the Michelle Lang Award for Excellence in Print Reporting-In depth feature article for the piece, which examines the opioid abuse crisis in Ontario. Silversides reported from one of the largest coroner's inquests in Canadian history, asking if doctors and drug companies were to blame for two shocking deaths in a small Ontario town.
The award is given in memory of Lang, an award-winning Calgary Herald journalist who was killed in 2009 while covering the war in Afghanistan.
