A New Editor for Maisonneuve

Sept. 11, 2015

After two years at the helm, Maisonneuve Editor-in-Chief Haley Cullingham is stepping down this week. Daniel Viola, Maisonneuve's associate editor since June 2014, whose work has appeared in Reader’s Digest Canada, the Toronto Star and Spacing, among others, has been tapped to fill Cullingham’s shoes. Copy Editor Andrea Bennett, who won a National Magazine Award this year for her Maisonneuve essay “Water Upon the Earth,” will move into the role of associate editor.

“Editing Maisonneuve has been an amazing experience,” says Cullingham. “But small publications benefit from new energy and I’m excited to watch Daniel and Andrea guide Maisy in its next direction.”

Under Cullingham, Maisonneuve won ten National Magazine Awards. She is moving on to a role as senior editor at Hazlitt in Toronto. Her final issue as editor-in-chief will be Fall 2015, No. 57, on newsstands September 18.
